Nike Grind

Nike Grind

For our school wide Green School event, Lime Kiln is hosting a collection of old athletic shoes of any brand that we can donate to the Nike Grind Reuse-a-Shoe program. We are asking students to bring in old shoes of any brand until April 20th. (No dress shoes, flip flops or cleats please!) Students can drop off their old shoes in a box in their English teacher’s classroom. We are also asking if a parent volunteer could drop off the collected shoes to the Nike Outlet in Hagerstown or Clarksburg, Maryland. If are interested in volunteering for collecting the shoes at LKMS and dropping them off at a Nike Outlet, please email Stefanie_Taylor@hcpss.org.

What is Nike Grind ?
Nike takes old shoes of any brand and grinds up all parts of the shoe. Materials in the shoe such as rubber, foam, fiber, leather, and textile blends get seperated and crushed into a wide range of granules. Nike uses these materials as well as their left over manufacturing materials to create athletic surfaces such as tracks, tennis courts, basketball courts, and playgrounds throughout the world.

Thank you for your support in making our school and our world a little greener!
