Positive Behavioral Interventions and Support

The main focus of PBIS is to create and maintain a positive learning environment by empowering students and staff with a clear system for expected behaviors at Lime Kiln Middle School. There are several components of the program including teaching expected behaviors in all settings, acknowledging students when they demonstrate the expectations and providing interventions when the expectations are not met.  Through PBIS we will work to maintain a productive, safe environment in which ALL school community members have clear expectations and understandings of their roles in the educational process.

LKMS is proud to share that we have received the PBIS Maryland GOLD Recognition Award, the highest level of recognition in the state for the past 4 consecutive years.

LKMS Expectations

Responsible for our actions
Organized and ready to learn
Achieving at our highest level
Respect for ourselves, others & property

PAWsitive Postcards

PAWsitive postcards include illustrations by our very own students!  Postcards are mailed to students who demonstrate the ROAR expectations.

ROAR Tickets:   Students have the opportunity earn ROAR Tickets throughout the school day and in every area of the school building.  They can earn these tickets as a reward for demonstrating the ROAR expectations (responsible, organized, achieving, and respectful).  Once they have earned a ticket, students may place their tickets in a raffle box for a weekly raffle to earn prizes.  Twice per year, LKMS hosts larger Bonanzas or fun events where raffle tickets can be used to gain larger prizes!

Leopard Leaders

On a regular basis the sixth, seventh, eighth and related arts teams nominate students for the Leopard Leaders Award.  Students are chosen for consistently exemplifying the ROAR expectations.  Recipients are awarded with a certificate and t-shirt.  In addition, students receive a letter from the Principal and Assistant Principal outlining why they were chosen to become a Leopard Leader.
