I hope this message finds you well. I wanted to take a moment to express my heartfelt gratitude to all the families who attended Back to School Night last Thursday. Your presence and engagement mean a great deal to us.
Your commitment and partnership in your child's education are truly invaluable. It's through this collaborative effort that we can create a supportive and nurturing learning environment at Lime Kiln.
Seeing so many families and staff come together for Back to School Night, with a shared focus on our students, was a heartwarming experience. It reaffirms the strength of our school community.
I'd also like to extend a special thank you to our PTSA (Parent-Teacher-Student Association). Their unwavering support for our children, school, and staff is greatly appreciated. I encourage you to consider joining these important organizations. While joining is a wonderful way to show support for our school, we also welcome any involvement and support you can provide in whatever capacity suits you best.

ZUM TRANSPORTATION MOBILE APP
If your child is registered for bus service and rides a Zum bus, you now have access to use the Zum App, which will allow you to track your child’s bus and receive notifications.
To start using the Zum app, please follow these instructions:
Log in to your account with the phone number or email address you have listed on your child’s record in Family File in HCPSS Connect
Verify your access by entering the one-time code sent to your device
Check the notification settings to ensure you’re receiving Zum notifications if desired, so you’ll know when the bus is approaching and when your child has arrived at school.

Student Picture Day - September 28 (Say Cheese!)
The very special tradition of Picture Day is coming soon! It is always great to have that Fall picture and Spring Picture to have of our children at a very important age.
Student Picture Day is Thursday, September 28. LifeTouch Studios will begin taking pictures promptly at 9:00am, so please make certain to have your child arrive on time. We will have pictures taken throughout the day.

Every year HCPSS parents must complete a Family File for each child. HCPSS utilizes Family File for parents/guardians to complete emergency information. Parents/guardians must verify and/or update information for each child and can do so by logging in to HCPSS Connect PARENT ACCOUNT and selecting the MORE OPTIONS tab on the left and then clicking on Family File.

HCPSS Free Student RTA Bus Pass Program
Thanks to a continued partnership between HCPSS, Howard County Government, and Regional Transportation Agency (RTA), all HCPSS middle and high school students have access to free RTA bus passes through summer 2024. Students have full access to the RTA system and are not limited to transportation to and from schools or to school-related activities. If your child is interested, they can visit our front office to request a free pass.
HCPSS BLACK STUDENT ACHIEVEMENT PROGRAM
The HCPSS Black Student Achievement Program Saturday Math Academy Fall Session is approaching! This year, the BSAP Saturday Math Academy will offer an in-person enrichment program for Howard County Public School System students in all levels of math for grades 3-12 based on course availability. Registration will take place online Saturday, September 16, 2023, from 9:00 a.m.- until capacity is reached. Class space is limited. Families can register by accessing the HCPSS Connect Website. The HCPSS Black Student Achievement Program invites you to attend the upcoming BSAP College and Career Opportunities Night on Thursday, October 12, 2023 at Long Reach High School. This College and Career Opportunities Night invites scholars in grades 8 - 12 countywide to network with working professionals, colleges/universities, explore post-secondary opportunities and learn more about HCPSS pathways. The evening will highlight a variety of colleges and universities as well as local businesses and organizations. To register, please complete the Registration Form linked here. LKMS PTA 6th Grade Ice Breaker

This event will be held directly after school from 3:30 pm-5:30 pm. Students will either need to be picked up at 5:30 pm or they can walk home after the event as selected on the following form.
The PTA will be having a photo booth and plans to share the link after the event. Please select the appropriate photo release approval for your child.

Reservoir HS Athletics Mattress Fundraiser
If you or someone you know is looking to replace a bed in your home, now is the time. Reservoir Athletics is hosting a one-day Mattress Fundraiser on Saturday, September 30th, from 10am - 5pm. There will be 30 different styles of beds on display for customers to try. The brand-name mattresses are made to order, have full factory warranties, are available in all sizes, and are priced below retail. In addition to beds, there will also be luxury pillows, premium sheets, mattress protectors, and even adjustable power bases!! Delivery & financing are available.
