Snow Leopard Bonanza

LKMS' Third Annual - "Snow Leopard Winter Break Bonanza"!  Back by popular demand!

The PBIS team would like to celebrate all of our students at Lime Kiln!   Students who are ROARing (being Responsible, Organized, Achieving and Respectful) will be receiving raffle tickets in class for the entire month of December for chances to win prizes. PARENTS/GUARDIANS!  WE NEED YOUR HELP!  We are in search of small prizes that could be raffled off to students on December 22.  Some ideas could include: books your child no longer reads, lotions, ear buds, pop sockets, fidgets, small puzzles, coin purses, scarves, accessories, jewelry, fun school supplies, or gift cards, $5-10 (TuttiFrutti, Target, Chipotle, McDonald's, Chick-fil-A are favorites)!   Students or parents can drop off donated items in the vestibule of our Front Office entrance until December 10.

Thank you so much for your support!  We know the students will be excited for our special “SNOW LEOPARD WINTER BREAK BONANZA!”

Spelling Bee – January 14

In recent weeks during English classes, all LKMS students have taken a qualifying spelling test for the LKMS Spelling Bee.  Students were asked to spell such challenging words as "monotonous," "abbreviate," and "eavesdrop."  Fifteen students qualified to compete in the school bee by correctly spelling all 15 words. Congratulations to the following students who will compete on January 14:  Justin Choi, Andres Contreras, Max Cooper, Bella Kang, Vishnu Kannan, Shubhani Majmundar, Sarah Moore, Mahi Patel, Connor Pham, Cora Sears, Ava Sesay, Jayen Tolia, Amelia Townsend, Tara Vallabha, and Abigail Zecharias.

The winner will represent our school at the Howard County Spelling Bee in March.  The winner will then go on to compete in the National Spelling Bee.

Rising 9th Grade High School Course Registration

Attention 8th Grade Parents/Guardians!

Your 8th grade students are about to embark on the high school course registration process for the 2022/23 school year.  Please know that there are many supports and resources available to students and parents over the next few weeks and months.   Core content teachers (English, math, science, social studies, and world language) have started recommending students for their core high school classes for next year.

December 14:  All 8th grade students will watch a video in Leopard Pride Homeroom that discusses high school graduation requirements, important tips, and how to register for courses in Synergy.

December 17:  Administrators and School Counselors from Reservoir High School and River Hill High School will visit LKMS students to talk about high school requirements and ways to get involved in high school.  Students will have an opportunity to ask questions about their prospective high schools.

December 20:  LKMS School Counselors (Mrs. Lucas has students with last names A-L and Mrs. Miles has students with last names M-Z) will be helping each student by performing a classroom lesson and assisting students through the high school registration process in Synergy.  During the week of December 20, LKMS School Counselors will be answering student's scheduling questions all week during their 8th grade lunch break.  Students can begin entering their high school course requests in Synergy starting on December 20, through January 18, 2022.  Parents can view these requests in their HCPSS Connect account.   Please reach out to your child's School Counselor if you have questions (Beth_Lucas@hcpss.org and Anna_Miles@hcpss.org).

Reservoir High School will each be holding a "Parent Information Night" on January 4 (see flier).  More information on River Hill's "Parent Information Night" will be provided as soon as the date is finalized.
