The Leopard's Tale

January 14, 2021

LKMS Families,

THANK YOU to our LKMS PTA for providing a special holiday luncheon for our staff on January 6th. We appreciate Suzie Mauris, PTA Hospitality coordinator, for accommodating all staff members.

Our students and staff are off to a strong start in 2021! January is particularly busy this school year. Last evening, we had the opportunity to celebrate LKMS students and families with the Howard County Council of Elders. We are proud of our Leopard scholars! On January 19th, a parent orientation video for rising 2021-22 6th graders and new LKMS 7th and 8th graders will be posted to the school's website. A reminder that all four of your student’s Semester One courses end on January 28th, and students and staff will quickly pivot to four new Semester Two courses beginning on February 1st.

We will host our Semester 2 Virtual Back-To-School-Night on Tuesday, February 9th from 6:30-8:00 p.m. so that you can learn about your child’s Semester Two Courses and meet his/her teachers. Please mark your calendars & stay tuned for more information.

Spelling Bee

It's Spelling Bee season!   The school-wide bee will be held the week of January 18 in a Google Meet.  Fifteen (or fewer)  students will compete, and our champion will represent Lime Kiln at the HCPSS Bee in March.  To determine participants of the school bee, there will be an online test on a specially created platform.  Top scorers on the qualifying test will be part of the live bee.

If this sounds like a challenge you would like to take on, click on the Spelling Bee Interest Form and get studying!  The lists of spelling words are on the Canvas Student Resource Course under the module called "Spelling Bee."  Questions?  Please email Mrs. Clemens, cynthia_clemens@hcpss.org.
