MAP Testing

Virtual MAP Reading went exceptionally smoothly; thank you for your participation. Math MAP is scheduled for Wednesday, October 14th. A reminder that middle school students enrolled in High School Math courses (Algebra I, Algebra II, Geometry, or Statistics) in either the Fall semester or Spring semester are exempt from taking the Math MAP.  

  • Math MAP: Wednesday, October 14, 2020
  • Time: 9am-11am
  • Google Meet: Students will use their Leopard Pride Homeroom code.

 

Media Center Updates

Hello Leopards,

We have found that there are over 200 overdue books from last year.  If you have any LKMS media books, or books from elementary school, please feel free to drop them off on Wednesdays from 10:30am to 11:30am at Lime Kiln Middle School's lower level parking lot.

LKMS Attendance Reporting Procedures

Absence Reporting School **NEW** Email:  LKMSabsence@hcpss.org

  • This mailbox will be monitored during school hours for the purpose of receiving absence notes from home; parents providing physician's notes, late arrival, and early dismissal notes.  
  • The school must receive a note from the parent or physician explaining the absence/tardiness of a student within two school days of the student's return or the absence/tardiness will be unlawful/unexcused. Students are not permitted to submit absence notes.
  • NOTE:  Parents are automatically opted into receiving email notifications when students are marked absent or tardy, however, you may opt-out when you complete the Family File. If you would like to opt-out, you may edit the Family File through HCPSS Connect.  Please refer to Policy 9010 to review policies and procedures for excused and unexcused absences. https://www.hcpss.org/policies/9000/9010-attendance/.  

Discretionary Absences:  Absences for discretionary days require principal approval to be excused (form attached).  Please refer to Policy 9010 Implementation Section III.K.3, https://policy.hcpss.org/9000/9010/implementation/.

Religious Observance: For absences in observance of a religious holiday, please complete the attached form.   Refer to Policy 3000 https://policy.hcpss.org/3000/3000/.

Calling All Girls Who Love Basketball!

HCYP Middle School Girls Basketball at Lime Kiln is hosting tryouts on Thursday, October 8 at 5:30 pm and a second **new tryout** on Monday, October 12 at 4:30 pm at the outdoor courts at Lime Kiln Middle School. Social distancing and safety measures will be in place. A waiver will also be required for tryouts.  HCYP Middle School league is advanced competition for girls at their zoned middle school. HCYP middle school basketball leagues are not part of the middle school or the Howard County Public School System.   Please email Michele Esch, Assistant Coach, at mesch3504@gmail.com for more information.

Free Student Meals

The food services program during the first semester of the 2020-2021 school year will consist of free Grab-and-Go meals served Monday through Friday from 8-9 a.m. and 10:45 a.m.-12:45 p.m. at all schools except Burleigh Manor Middle School and Hammond High School. Meals are free for all students through December.
