LKMS News and Events

Back to School Night Tonight - September 12

We are looking forward to seeing parents/guardians tonight at our Annual Back to School Night.   The evening will begin with a PTA General Membership meeting at 6:00pm in our auditorium.    At 6:30pm, parents/guardians will move to their student's Leopard Pride  Homeroom where they will receive their student's "A" day schedule to follow throughout the evening.  Student schedules can also be viewed on Canvas prior to attending.  This event is primarily for adults, and while students are welcome to join their parents any students who attend MUST stay with their parent/guardian for the entirety of the evening.  We look forward to seeing you this evening!

Update Your Student's Family File Information

As of today, 80% of our families have updated Family File.  We still need 137 families to update this important information.

HCPSS utilizes Family File for parents/guardians to complete information and share preferences.     Log into HCPSS Connect, select the Family File tab then click on Family File.  Once logged in, parents/guardians will be asked to provide or update your student's information.  Information must be reviewed/updated for each child and for each year regardless if there are any changes or not.

Carpool Dropoff/Pick-up Procedures

For those families who will be driving their students to school, please remember that ALL students should be dropped off and picked up using the LOWER parking lot.  Please do not utilize the small or large bus loops for drop-off or pick-up.

Please be ready to drop-off/pick-up your child and keep the line of traffic moving.  If you have a need to wait before releasing your child, please pull into a parking space so that traffic in the carpool lane can keep moving efficiently.  Students should all exit from the right side of the car for safety.

Visitor Procedures

We welcome parents and guardians in to our school building, however it is important that all visitors come in through the front door and sign in at the Front Office.  This includes before and after school.  Once you have signed in, we can help you get to where you need to go.  Thank you for your understanding and helping us to keep our students and staff safe!

LKMS' Attendance Reporting Procedures

Parents and Guardians may send notes for absences via email to LKMSAttendance@hcpss.org. This mailbox will be monitored during school hours for the purpose of receiving absence notes from home; parents providing physician's notes, late arrival and early dismissal notes.  Your child may also bring the notes to school too and deliver them to Ms. Hill in Student Services.  The school must receive a note from the parent or physician explaining the absence/tardiness of a student within two school days of the student's return or the absence/tardiness will be unlawful/unexcused.

Please refer to Policy 9010 to review policies and procedures for excused and unexcused absences. https://www.hcpss.org/policies/9000/9010-attendance/.  All absences for extended local discretionary days will require Principal approval. The request form is available here: https://www.hcpss.org/about-us/forms/.

If you need further assistance, you may email our Student Services Secretary, Rhonda Hill, rhonda_hill@hcpss.org or call (410) 880-5997.
